365 Interview With J3mob

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?
We started music around the time corona started, and we had always had a love / appreciation for hip hop, so we started a SoundCloud to mess around but once we caught some traction & realized how far we could really take this, we started to take it serious.

Where are you from? When did you start music?
Los Angeles, agoura hills more specifically. We’re on our 3rd year currently. But our progression rate is incomparable because of the level of work we put in to improve.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?
Losing people, family members / friends.

How did you get into music?
Off of appreciation of others that did it. It seemed fun at the start and then we realized it’s all we ever wanted to do.

Are you currently signed or independent?
We’re independent, but we have started a collective called Planet Smiley Records that we’re hoping to turn into a major label one day.

Who inspires you the most musically?
Honestly Eachother, and everything. Artist wise I’d say Ski Mask & X definitely started the fire we are adding to. Shy used to listen to eminem a lot growing up. Since being teenagers, we’ve listened to a lot of juice, carti, x, ski, mac, Kodak, Kendrick, etc.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?
Feeling better about whatever they have going on. A lot of people can say they wanna give off a happy vibe but I don’t think anyone does it like us. Everybody has their problems and fears but it’s important to be able to tune them out for a bit and enjoy whatever positive you got going.

What is the purpose/reason driving you to pursue music?
Me, chan prix, I want to be able to help people as much as I can, and have a platform to do what I need. I’ve always had an eye for talent and I feel like people would genuinely care about what I make and what I say. I want to be able to help the homeless people in LA, it’s the shittiest thing you’ll see if you come here. So many sad people on the street and a lot of them just need a helping hand.

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?
It’s yet to come, but so far I’d say making it on ImDontai’s stream, or getting flown to Sacramento for a show.

Do you produce your own music? If not, who do you work with?
We have a team of producers that make beats for us every day. Planet Smiley & PiTCREW producers always keep our email loaded.

Who is one artist you wish you could work with?
Yachty, seems like it’d be good energy. Offset, ski, jid, Denzel, Kenny mason would all be hard. Ugly god too.

Tell us about any new music you have coming out?
Honestly, always. We make about 10 songs a day and we only drop 1 per 50 we make, and we always have the next drop planned, even if they don’t know yet.

What does a day inside your shoes look like?
Waking up to a bowl, going to McDonald’s before the studio, making a tik tok at the studio before recording, then recording, eating, making another tik tok, then either performing or sleeping. Maybe some doordash driver hours to keep some $$ in our pockets.

Anything else you want the audience to know about you?
We love everyone, and everything happens for a reason. <3
