365 exclusive interview with Chiboki

What 3 things does anyone starting in your industry need to know?

Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t because you CAN!

Work on your craft & constantly improve.

Don’t be scared to try new things, there are tons of tools to help you be creative with music.

What would you do differently if you were starting in your industry now?

I would take myself more seriously from the jump & invest into myself a lot more. The music scene is getting big in Canada now and there are platforms for everyone to make it happen.

Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?

I’d say motivation from other artists in the city making it big, it made me believe that I could do it. Family & friends who always push me and support me.

What would you say is the #1 key to success in pursuing music

Constantly look to improve your craft like anything, music is constantly changing.

Talk about the biggest failure you’ve had. What did you learn from it?

I was always told I wasn’t good enough, or my musical talent was subpar and I started to believe it, until I thought to myself why listen to what other people say? I’m gonna give it 110% and if I don’t make it big I’m still happy with myself for giving it my all.

What has been your biggest success  story in music? Why do you think it was a success?

Releasing my first few songs, I was always nervous about making music and showing it to the world for everyone to hear & being able to overcome that was huge for me.

What keeps you going when things get tough in your music career?

Motivation to keep getting better, my success that I’ve already had & understand that things will get tougher before they get better.

What made you pursue being a Rapper full time?

Just the fun of actually making music from rapping to directing videos I love it all. I couldn’t ask for anything better than being part of something I love and enjoy, it never feels like work.

Would you stay independent or sign to a major label?

I think for now I’d stay independent and work on my craft, own the rights to all my music. Maybe one day I would think of signing to a label but for now I’m solo.

What projects are you working on for 2021 and beyond?

Right now I’m working on releasing an album with other Canadian artists throughout the country. I have big things planned for it, a lot of unheard talent from the city will be on it.
