Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing J Bandz, an up-and-coming rapper hailing from South Bound Brook, New Jersey. J Bandz has been making waves in the music industry with his unique style and captivating lyrics. We sat down with him to delve into his background, creative process, influences, and plans for the future.

Q: J Bandz, thank you for joining us today. Let’s start from the beginning. Can you tell us about your early relationship with music?

A: Thank you for having me. Honestly, music wasn’t my cup of tea in my early years. It wasn’t until I was around 12 years old that I stumbled upon rapping as a form of fun. I wasn’t eager to explore new songs at that time. However, around the age of 14, I began listening to music more actively, and by 18, I started taking rap seriously. Prior to that, I was heavily involved in football and even received multiple scholarships. But when I dropped my first song on SoundCloud and it garnered 4k plays in a day, my plans took a different turn.

Q: That’s quite a journey. How has your creative process evolved over time?

A: My creative process has definitely changed. Initially, I used to be more of a writer, jotting down ideas. However, when it comes to laying down the vocals, I prefer freestyling and being in the moment. I like to feel the energy and let it guide me. It adds authenticity to the music.

Q: Speaking of authenticity, who are some of your biggest musical influences?

A: I’ve had different influences throughout my musical journey. One of my all-time favorite rappers is Lil Wayne. His bars always fascinated me. More recently, Juice WRLD became another artist I resonated with. I was drawn to his vibes and unique style.

Q: Your latest track, “You,” seems to have a personal touch. Could you tell us more about it?

A: Absolutely! “You” is a song that revolves around giving my girl clarity and reassurance in our relationship. It’s about letting her know that we are solid and that I’ll always be there for her. It’s important to express love and support in relationships, and that’s what this song is all about.

Q: It’s great to see the depth in your music. How do you engage with your fans and promote your performances?

A: When it comes to promoting my performances, I make sure to put the flyer out on all platforms. Additionally, I offer free tickets to the first few people who book. It’s a way to show gratitude to my fans and create a buzz around the shows.

Q: Impressive! Have you had any standout moments or milestones in your career so far?

A: Definitely! One of the highlights of my career was almost reaching 600,000 streams on a single track called “Betta.” It was a significant achievement for me and a testament to the hard work I’ve put into my music.

Q: Last question. As an independent artist, what advice would you give to others aspiring to enter the music industry?

A: The music industry is a challenging space, but my advice would be to focus on finding the right audience for your music. It’s not about trying to please everyone, but rather connecting with people who resonate with your sound and style. Additionally, I would strongly suggest investing in a home studio to perfect your craft before spending the same amount on studio time. Building a solid foundation is crucial.
