Hey! How are you doing today?
I’m doing awesome today; just Living the dream !!! How about yourself?
Where are you from?
I was born in the nation’s capital and live there a little but mainly raised in a small city in Bertie County , NC
What is your greatest inspiration for your music?*
My family inspires me and all the people wanting to be in my shoes. I always have music on while I’m doing the simplest task. I’m a very aural person; as soon as I hear a lyric or phrase, I’m transported to a particular time or place. My taste varies wildly. When me and Davis Chris worked on a blues album , I listened to over hundreds of Blues songs and albums. To be truly inspired, you must learn to trust your instinct, and your creative empathy. Don’t over-rehearse a part, or you’ll find you get bored with it. Hard work is important, but that comes before the inspiration part.
What are 3 words that describe your music?
Textured, Dynamic & Innovative
What is the hardest subject you’ve ever written about?*
Really hasn’t been one kinda universal and adapt to any genre. We literally landed on Billboard six times in three different languages.
What are the challenges of being an artist?*
1- Finding inspiration. As we were just talking, sometimes you are just not inspired enough.
2- Keeping up with your talent.
3- Building an unbreakable self-trust.
4- Dealing with a lot of constraints.
5- Having the ‘ no-response ‘ nightmare. I think we all have em.
6- Persistence, Persistence, and Persistence. This is the key to success in this industry though and plays a vital role in my life.
Are you planning on releasing new music soon?
Yes me and my partner Davis Chris have a record called Calm Down that drops in March.
